_We get asked regularly what our definition of a Future Scout is. We don’t believe its any one thing — its what all of us can envision it to be together. Over the years we’ve collected some descriptions of what a Future Scout is to our participants and our mentors for the program. Here are a few that we’ve compiled into a poem for all of you._

A Future Scout is…

### a self-directed learner who blooms through learning, exploration and discovery.

### an engaged citizen who values the differences and similarities between people and nations.

### a person who promotes and protects life’s joys and emotions through gratitude and a zest for life.

### a person on a journey of learning, who engages in self-awareness and experimentation with life.

### an open-hearted and open-minded person who values the connections society builds through mutual caring and respect.

### a future leader who promotes cooperation, collaboration, and open communication.

### a person eager to be agile and adaptable, who welcomes the unpredictability of life.

### a confident, competent, resourceful and independent person who is confident in their ability to navigate uncertainty and the unknown.

### a person full of energy and enthusiasm for learning.

### Future Scouts are
