SoRare has created a platform that combines Daily Fantasy Sports with NFTs. Collect, play and win by joining tournaments with your officially licensed player cards in either football, baseball or basketball.   **How does it work?** There are currently three sports to participate in. You can either choose to play in football, the NBA or MLB. Once you have chosen the sport you want to compete in, you will be given some starter cards (also known as common cards) so that you can build a starting team. These common cards have no monetary value and cannot be traded on the marketplace. For football you are required to construct a five-player roster that has at least one goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and a forward. In MLB, you must construct a seven-player roster with two pitchers, three batters and two flex (any position) players. However, for the NBA there are no positional requirements. Further restrictions may be imposed on to your team depending on the type of tournament. For example, some tournaments require you to build a team using a specific rarity of cards. A lot of the rarer cards are NFTs that must be bought on the marketplace. You can buy the player cards at either a “new auction” or from other players via the “manager sales” tab. Depending on the sport it can either be their last five or ten games. This will determine your budget for the tournament. Therefore, you cannot stack your team with five or seven of the best players in the sport. This creates an interesting dilemma for players. If you manage to rank highly, you will be rewarded with more cards. Some tournaments reward you with rarer cards that are NFTs. Tournaments usually run on a weekly basis. You must build a line-up and register the team before the deadline. SoRare make it very clear when the next set of tournaments are about to start. You can find the date and the countdown for the start of tournaments at the top of the “play” page. It must be noted that cards that have been registered into a tournament cannot be replicated into another team at the same time. You must wait for the completion of the tournament to reuse that card for future tournaments. **Conclusion** Sorare is an extremely exciting prospect within the web 3 space. Digital collectibles and fantasy sport competitions are a great recipe for success. They have already managed to secure official partnerships with major sporting leagues globally and if they continue to expand into other sports, its only going to be a matter of time until they compete against major daily fantasy sports companies.
