We’re thrilled to introduce Gas Network, a new decentralized oracle protocol from Blocknative designed to bring Web3 gas markets fully onchain. If you’ve ever felt the pain of unpredictable fees, endless guesswork around gas prices on different chains, or sudden spikes that leave you paying way too much, then you understand the challenge we’re here to solve.
Gas Network Mission & Problem Space
Gas Network unifies multi-chain gas data and simplify fee management across all chains. Our core vision is to empower end-users, wallets, and protocols with accurate gas price data—bringing transparent, cost-effective “gas-aware” functionality to the entire Web3 world.
In the past 12 months, more than $5B has been spent on Web3 transaction fees. Today, transaction pricing is an entirely offchain process that is both underoptimized and opaque. In fact, many actors in the transaction supply chain are incentivized to misrepresent current gas prices, either to make a specific venue look more attractive or to overstate prices and capture the difference.

The web of incentives creates confusion and mistrust – both for newer users who find fees daunting and for experienced users who want more control over their costs.
Our Vision for Onchain Data: Untangling Gas Pricing
Gas Network was built to tackle these pain points by independently supplying live gas price feeds directly onchain. Instead of querying multiple offchain tools, developers can integrate our Oracles into their smart contracts.
This allows smart contracts to automate decisions about when to execute transactions, how to price services, or whether to postpone actions until fees drop. Because Gas Network is building towards a decentralized network, users and developers can trust that the information isn’t controlled by a single entity or manipulated behind the scenes.
Reshaping the existing web of incentives around gas pricing is at the core of our vision. Gas Network aims to align each layer of the stack, ensuring that all actors are aligned with the protocol – and with the wider ecosystem.
How Gas Network Works
GasNet: Our dedicated appchain that aggregates real-time gas predictions for multiple networks. Testnet Docs
Gas Agents: The offchain processes generating continuous gas fee predictions. Today, we have 40 unique Gas Agents for a wide variety of L1 (including Ethereum, Bitcoin, Avalanche, Sei, BNB Smart Chain, and others) and L2 chains (Arbitrum One, Base, Linea, Polygon, Unichain, World Chain, zkSync Era, and many others).
Gas Oracles: Onchain contracts that make gas price data on each supported chain available in real-time. Gas Oracles can operate in push, pull, or hybrid modes. Today, we offer mainnet Gas Oracles on Ethereum, Optimism, Base, Unichain, Arbitrum One, and Linea – with more coming soon. Oracle Docs
Gas Bridge: A lightweight cross-chain communications layer that connects Gas Agents to Gas Oracles via GasNet, leveraging EIP-712 signatures to ensure verifiability.
The result? Less guesswork, more efficiency, and lower overall fees for everyone.
Gas Network Must Be Decentralized
We believe in open-source, community-driven solutions:
Open Source: Our code is publicly available, welcoming contributions and scrutiny from the broader community.
Community Governed: Protocol updates, improvements, and governance decisions are made collaboratively.
Incentivised: Once Gas Network reaches a stable state across multiple networks, each participating agent, network and contributor will be incentive aligned with the protocol.
This ensures that no single participant can dominate or distort our gas data feeds, keeping the system fair and honest.
Gas Network: Coming to a chain near you!
Over the coming months, Gas Network will launch our first onchain experience, allowing both users and protocols to participate in the provision and consumption of transparent, onchain gas pricing.
Any community member can play a crucial role in this provision, by pulling offchain data into the onchain oracles, and will be rewarded for this contribution. At the same time we’re assembling the genesis cohort, a collective of Protocols that will participate in this initial rollout! If this sounds like a protocol you're part of, reach out!
