# Introducing the Operator DAO **Published by:** [Gemach DAO](https://paragraph.com/@gemach/) **Published on:** 2023-04-05 **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@gemach/introducing-the-operator-dao ## Content Many DAOs today are either not decentralized or not efficient. To address these issues, I propose a DAO that elects an operator. The operator has the freedom to manage the protocol as they wish, but if the DAO is unhappy, they can elect a new operator at any time, taking control away from the current operator in a decentralized way. First, let's review common existing structures and their pros and cons:On-chain protocol governance (e.g., Compound, Uniswap): Pros: Fully decentralized (in theory) Cons: Slow innovation, small updates, hard to reach quorum, centralized website development, high gas costsSnapshot governance: Pros: No gas costs, more participation, faster innovation Cons: DAO has no control over the protocol, the operator can ignore the DAOThe Solution: Democratically Elected Operator We'll combine the best of both worlds: rapid innovation with true decentralization. Founding: Founder deploys DAO contracts, starting a one-week establishment period. Anyone can buy tokens and become a DAO member, voting for an Operator. After the first auction, if any Operator gets over 50% votes, they become the DAO Operator. Operation: The auction process continues to raise funds. The Operator has the freedom to use the funds as they wish, enabling rapid innovation without red tape. Oversight: If the DAO is unhappy with the Operator's performance, they can vote for a new Operator. Once a new Operator gets over 50% of the votes, they take control of the funds and farming contract. Additional Challenges: Web domain ownership, social media accounts, and forums need to be addressed. A combination of .eth domains and IPFS hosting might help, but there are still challenges. In conclusion, this Operator DAO concept offers an innovative way to balance decentralization and efficiency.Subscribe ## Publication Information - [Gemach DAO](https://paragraph.com/@gemach/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@gemach/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@gemach): Subscribe to updates
