music is a system of sounds, harmonies, melodies, and rhythms over time. from the most fundamental to the most complex systems, these principles remain true. contrary to popular belief, music theory is often more detrimental to the understanding of music than helpful; over-explanations of melodic function and harmonic progression deter the learning curiosity of the student, and hinder their own growth and understanding. what I propose, for the first time in three hundred and six years, is a system of music based on natural connections, physical properties, and open creativity; a system of musical understanding that allows all to compose, improvise, and learn through this process. and like in all music, it starts with one note.
