Spotlighting African Builders EP11: David & Gamifying Crypto Education with Play to Learn
David’s Entry into Web3David’s introduction to the crypto space came in an unusual way, through a referral-based Ethereum scheme called “Ethereum Million Money” back in 2017. While short-lived and ultimately structured like a pyramid scheme, the experience planted a seed of curiosity. His real turning point came later, when a friend needed to receive money from abroad. Watching crypto enable a fast, fee-less transfer showed David its real-world potential and pulled him deeper into Web3.The Sp...

Spotlighting African Builders EP8: A conversation with Yvonne Kagondu, Head of ICP HUB Kenya
In this episode of Spotlighting African Builders, we sat down with Yvonne Kagondu — Head of ICP Hub Kenya to explore her journey in blockchain and how she’s shaping the future of Web3 across the continent. Yvonne is at the helm of one of Africa’s most active Web3 ecosystems. Through ICP Hub Kenya, her mission is to evangelize, educate, incubate, and launch meaningful blockchain projects. To date, the hub has trained over 1,000 developers in Kenya, with additional ICP hubs emerging across Nige...

The Missing Link to Blockchain Adoption
The first event I attended this year was in April, a Bitget event in Abuja. It leaned more toward marketing than education, but it was still interesting to see how people responded to the buzz around crypto. A few weeks later, I joined the Avalanche Campus Tour, which had a completely different energy. This one was focused on education and onboarding, especially for newbies. The atmosphere was fresh, exciting, and relatable—you could feel the curiosity in the room as people asked questions, s...

On Episode 6 of Spotlighting African Builders, we sat down with Great Adams, Blockchain Engineer and founder of Let’s Build DAO, to explore how Africa’s first on-chain intelligence hub is setting the stage for more transparency, better data, and a stronger Web3 ecosystem on the continent.
This ongoing series hosted weekly on X Spaces, is curated to spotlight African-led innovations and the minds behind them. Brought to life by We Them Media, the conversations aim to educate, inspire, and rally more builders from the continent into the onchain future.

Great Adams: The Builder’s Builder
Adams describes himself simply: “Human first, builder always.” His journey started with learning how to code in secondary school and evolved into a Web3 awakening during university. That moment of clarity gave birth to Let’s Build DAO, a protocol and a movement grounded in ownership, transparency, and real-world use.
In 2024, Adams hosted a build-focused event in Port Harcourt themed around “Building. Collaborating. Connecting.” The same energy now fuels Let’s Build DAO’s upcoming protocol, launching in 2026.
He’s also a proud ambassador of @LiskHQ, a blockchain platform that he sees not just as tech, but a “human layer” powering ecosystems in Africa and beyond.
Africa’s First On-Chain Intelligence Hub
In March 2025, Let’s Build DAO launched an ambitious initiative: building Africa’s first on-chain intelligence hub. The move was a direct response to a long-standing issue in the space:
“African-focused hackathon projects rarely end up used by Africans.”
This hub was designed to fix that, with infrastructure that:
✔️ Verifies blockchain activity by Africans✔️ Tracks local on-chain transaction volumes✔️ Filters signal from noise in African Web3 data
Adams emphasized that Africa doesn’t just need more tools — it needs tools built for Africans.
Why DAOs? Why Now?
Great Adams credits Vitalik Buterin’s writings for sparking his interest in DAOs. For him, DAOs offer a model of shared ownership where everyone contributes, and everyone belongs. That vision has become the foundation for Let’s Build DAO’s evolving roadmap.
The mission is clear: create access, structure, and data that gives African communities a voice onchain and off.
NFTs, Education & What’s Ahead
Let’s Build DAO is currently rolling out:
→ NFTs (available at letsbuilddao.org), built on Lisk
→ Each NFT grants access to Let’s Build Academy courses (launching July 2025)
→ Courses are still under development, with focus on real-world utility
The long-term plan? Governance through NFTs, followed by a community-driven token launch.
1 NFT = 1 Vote
More drops are expected soon, including a second collection to fund ecosystem activities. Designs by @Daddy_Mupasa are already generating buzz.
The Lisk Advantage
For Adams, Lisk stands out for its focus on real-world impact and emerging markets like Africa and Asia. Since joining the ecosystem in March 2024, he’s benefited from:
→ Access to tools and community
→ Support for creators and educators
→ DAO participation opportunities
→ Ecosystem funding & loyalty programs
Advice for New Builders
Adams kept it simple and solid:
☆ Join the Lisk DAO☆ Stay active☆ Create with purpose☆ Watch out for upcoming builder support programs
Barriers to Web3 Adoption in Nigeria?
The conversation touched on pressing issues affecting the broader ecosystem:
🚫 Regulatory uncertainty
🚫 Scam-driven marketing narratives
🚫 Lack of local infrastructure
With Africa contributing just 8% to Web3 globally, and extracting less than 5% of the value, Adams believes it’s time to build smarter, build locally, and build together.
Looking Ahead
What’s next for Let’s Build DAO?
→ 1,000 free NFTs launching soon
→ Community-driven governance before token release
→ Exploration of partnerships, including one with @rwwasset
→ A long-term commitment to decentralized data infrastructure in Africa
Final Words from Great Adams
“We’re still trying to find balance, resources, and structure — but we’re building.”
Let’s Build DAO is more than a protocol. It’s a platform. A blueprint. A call to action. Brick by brick, block by block, the builders are here.
Special thanks to @wethemmediaHQ for making this series possible.
