Americans talk to the air — throw a ball of words to the air — in the middle of everyone on the table. The ball randomly fly and bounce. Some of those listeners catch the ball and respond to it the same way. It’s like a game. I tend to talk to a specific listener, passing the ball to him or her cautiously. There’s no random bounce, and the game ends there. It’s not actually a game.
