# Bow and Arrow Clarity

So much of my youth and the early parts of my career was about “doing a lot of stuff.”

Like many, I took a false pride in the idea that I was a highly-effective multi-tasker.

Time changes perspective, right?

This morning, I saw a great quote from the Dalai Lama.

> "Wisdom is like an arrow. The serene mind is the bow that shoots."

It takes a LOT of practice to get to any moment of serenity, let alone sustained serenity.

In the Art of War, Sun Tzu uses the bow and arrow analogy in a different way. The taut bow represents momentum. Knowing when to release the arrow is timing.

Putting these together makes me think that wisdom is accumulated momentum of knowledge.

Having a serene mind gives the sense of timing.

Together, you get clarity.

And that leads to effective outcomes.
