# Consensus 2022

The first crypto event I ever attended was Consensus 2016.

That’s where I fell in love and recognized “this is my crowd. This is what I want to do.”

As I write this, I’m about to attend Consensus 2022.

Six years in one industry. May be a new record for me.

It’s wild to see how it’s grown and, despite the bear market, the severe bear market, there’s a ton of energy and enthusiasm.

Sadly, however, many of the themes are the same.

\-how do we get to mass adoption?

\-what are regulators going to do?

\-Banks are screwed

But the progress is happening.

Regulatory clarity IS coming.

Adoption is happening. You know how I know? People always say to me, “but what can I actually buy with crypto?” and now the answer is: [whatever you want at Chipotle.](https://www.nrn.com/fast-casual/chipotle-accepts-cryptocurrency-through-flexa)

And banks are still screwed.

They are the Blockbuster of this Netflix story.

Gradually, gradually, gradually…then suddenly.

My level of conviction hasn’t changed.

Actually, it has.

Stronger.
