# Distance to Self **Published by:** [jer979](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/) **Published on:** 2025-07-23 **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/distance-to-self ## Content Underneath all of the societal, cultural, familial, and national programming, I suspect there’s an eternal core. It’s a kind of energy that powers us. Like the core of a nuclear reactor perhaps. I honestly don’t know. But, every now and then, in the stillness of a moment, I sense its presence. And I feel a kind of yearning, a calling, a voice saying “come home.” And then there’s a frustration that aches in my throat and a sadness that descends into my abdomen. I can feel how far away I am from home. It’s a north star guiding me, but it’s so far off in the distance that it feels like forever or never. Yet, I am drawn to it. So I keep moving. ## Publication Information - [jer979](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@jer979-2): Subscribe to updates - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/jer979): Follow on Twitter
