# Feeling the Fear

---

I was sitting outside meditating the other morning.

Eyes were closed. Breeze was light. Birds were chirping.

I was repeating my mantra and, of course, as is the Way, my mind began to wander.

I started to drift to my role as CMO at [Radix](http://www.radixdlt.com/). It’s a huge opportunity and I’m excited about it. It’s also a big responsibility. I mean, we have to decentralize the global economy, right?

And then I felt it.

A sensation in my right breast area.

It was fear.

Fear of failure. Fear of an inability to perform.

But, instead of letting it overwhelm me, I simply did what one is supposed to do when practicing mindfulness.

I acknowledged it and tried to do so without judgment.

Then, I remembered the saying that courage isn’t the absence of fear, it’s the willingness to persevere in spite of fear.

We all feel it at times (or at least I think we do).

It’s what we do with it that matters.
