# Getting There **Published by:** [jer979](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/) **Published on:** 2025-02-26 **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/getting-there ## Content There is no “there” to get to. There’s only here. And it’s not about leaving here, because if you aren’t here, where are you? This quote came up before my meditation this morning.“A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving” -Lao TzuAt first, I felt my ego rises, priding myself on how I had traveled to many countries and places always with a sense of adventure and not a checklist. But, as I sat, watching my mind wandering, and initially feeling frustrated by the fact that I wasn’t concentrating on my breath, I realized that I was actually intent on arriving somewhere other than where I was. And then I realized that the travel to which Lao Tzu was referring wasn’t a trip to Paris or Florida. He’s talking-I think-(as my yoga teacher says) “the journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self". There’s no plan and it’s not about arriving. It’s about being here, not getting there. ## Publication Information - [jer979](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@jer979-2/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@jer979-2): Subscribe to updates - [Twitter](https://twitter.com/jer979): Follow on Twitter
