# Iceland and Financial Ecosystems

I’ve had the good fortune to travel around Iceland over the past few days.

If you love nature, it’s the place for you (though it’s not cheap–well, the nature is, but the rest of the country isn’t).

I’ve said to a few people that Iceland is like “Disneyland for Nature.”

When you’re here, you’re a bit in awe of the balance of ecosystems and environment. It’s a beauty to behold.

And it makes you think.

For the past 300 years, our financial system has been a “winner-take-all,’ “dog-eat-dog,” “zero sum game” of enabling industrialization.

That’s not how nature works.

Nature works as a mutually-reinforcing, mutually supportive ecosystem of interdependence.

This is what DeFi/Web3 finance do also.

If you win, I don’t necessarily have to lose.

I may not “win” as much as you do, but if the crypto-economic ecosystem is thriving, then every tokenholder is better off, regardless of their specific case.

DeFi is more natural and more in tune with its environment.

That’s why it’s right for the world we want to inhabit.
