# Infinite Possibilities

There’s a concept in quantum physics called a “[wave function](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_function).”

I’m not sure I fully get it. In fact, I’m pretty sure, I don’t.

But, what I think it represents is that, at any moment, an entire, nearly infinite range of possibilities exist for a given particle.

Then, there’s a moment, a “quantum leap” where the wave no longer exists-it collapses-and the actual event occurs.

Now, all of this happens on a sub-atomic level, but I like to “zoom out” and think about the parallels with the macro world.

It’s almost F[rankl-like](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viktor_Frankl) in its approach. “At any given moment, you can always choose how you respond.”

That’s a wave function of possibilities (keep in mind, this isn’t probabilities-that’s something else).

So, while there may be times when things feel stuck or it’s not clear what you should do, that each of us is a wave function of our own, containing within ourselves a nearly unlimited set of possibilities. Possibly unlimited.

Then, there’s the best part.

The outcome is random.

Yes, there are probabilities, but there’s also chance.

I guess I am trying to get comfortable with the somewhat paradoxical idea that all is possible but the outcome may be beyond our control.
