# Let Them

What’s going on in my head right now?

You don’t know.

Just like I have no idea what’s going on in your head.

But that doesn’t stop us from coming up with narratives about what others are thinking about us, does it?

Then, we spend time ruminating on the possibilities or the story.

It’s a waste.

Not only are they probably not thinking about us, but even if they are, who cares?

“Let them” is what [Mel Robbins says.](https://open.spotify.com/episode/6Z2wR3WNIHlhJDELXNYcTi?si=6aTc_TQDQ7-ZPZ6efJOsSw)

Let them think it. Let them do things that don’t make sense to you. Let them make the mistakes.

(Yes, there are moments, like obvious discrimination where this doesn’t apply, but MOST of the time, it does).

Stop trying to control the situation.

Stop trying to come up with explanations that satisfy your need to feel secure.

The liberation comes from letting go of that need…and letting others be who they are.
