# Swim with the Waves

I went for a swim in the sea yesterday.

It was fascinating to observe how, no matter how much I intended to go straight and stay aligned with the rope, I would inevitably be pushed off course.

So, I just started to relax and realize that, periodically, I’d need to just look around and see where I was, put forth a bit more effort to get back (mostly) to where I wanted to be….and then the process (kind of a wave function itself) would start again.

I wasn’t in there long enough to develop an internal sense of where I was. But I imagine that’s possible.

It seems possible, with enough practice, to become so attuned to the waves of the sea that you can intuit your location relative to a fixed point without looking. You can just feel where you are.

Then, you just naturally course correct.

With that capability, the intervening swim becomes even more relaxing. You’re not worried about where you are and where you’re supposed to be.

You just flow with the water, feel its energy, and naturally, effortlessly adjust.

Then, you’re at the point when you’re swimming with the waves, not against them.

Best of all, while you’re doing that, you start to notice and wonder at the schools of fish below.
