# The Long, Cold Winter

I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future any more than anyone else does, but my read of the situation is as follows.

We all hope that the recession we’re in (and we’re in one, despite the fact that it would be politically counterproductive to admit it) is a short one.

But, reading the WSJ yesterday, for example about the Fed’s inability to decide if inflation is persistent or not, has reminded me, once again, that they don’t necessarily know what is going on or how long it is going to last.

So, we’re all just floating along this economic and financial river here, with no one steering, but riding on huge amounts of fiat money to propel us…for now.

So, I fear (and I sure hope I’m wrong) that this economic environment is going to last for a while.

I have NO data to back that up and I sure hope I’m wrong, but the pall has settled over the land.
