# When CPAs Go Away

It’s the beginning of the year and that means that 2022 tax information is starting to roll in. It’s an ugly, inefficient, paper-based process. It’s a time-suck. And it’s a boon for CPAs. None of this needs to happen. When financial transactions happen on a ledger, enforced by smart contracts, assembling tax information is going to be a hell of a lot easier than it is today. Every January, I am further reminded of why this transformation is necessary.
