# Allowing Fun and Focus to Coexist

*The benefits of focus, having time for fun*

It has been a while since I’ve written. I was carrying too much on my plate for too long. I am starting to recognizing that I can only focus on a couple things at a time. For this season, my only committed focuses are the following:

*   Learning to dunk

*   Moving across the country

* Seeing my friends before I go

These are the only things I will force myself to do. I am learning that I can do many things at once, but I can only give concerted effort to a couple of them at a time. Those are my priorities for now. For a while, that is all I allowed myself to do. I needed to learn how to focus.

Yet I’m learning that there is more time in the day than those priorities allow for. I still need hobbies and fun things to do after all. So my old hobbies, like writing, or making YouTube videos, are creeping back in. They aren’t coming back in the same way though. There are no content calendars this time. There is no weekly newsletter. I will write for fun. I will make videos for fun, when I’m bored.

I can’t force myself to do too many things at a time, but that focus leaves a lot of space to try things. I am finally taking advantage of it. I can’t describe how nice it is to be focused on what matters and to have enough time to pursue what I find fun, like writing.

I almost always say I’ve figured things out like this and I almost always find a flaw in it. But for now, I’m enjoying a nice mix of relaxation and focus. Here’s to that.
