Writing is great, and it can be a pain sometimes.

To write the Peaces & Pieces collection of poems, I focused on drawing parallels between seeming paradoxes and opposites I saw in the conversations and topics among crypto tweets, discord servers and Instagram memes.

Then, to actual write a poem, I focused on getting the right first line. The first line usually unlocks for me a flow of storytelling based on the igniting thought and following stream of connected words, thoughts, feelings and - pieces - that help draw out the entirety of what the initial first line brought forth.

Then I edit. Snip-snip, chip-chip, revise and refine - until the the collective words stemming from the first line paint a satisfactory picture to me.

This is where the pain sets in - is that all? Is this enough?

In the book ‘Feeling is the Secret’ by Neville Goddard, a quote which caught my attention - among other impactful and useful things - was "_Do not dwell on the imperfection of yourself or others_". On this basis, I do not dwell on eroding imperfection, but constantly refining it by doing.

Homo fabula - we are storytelling beings - from the smallest incidences to big media smokescreens - and stories are an endless source of ideas and content. The poem below, **Desiderata**, is one I return to whenever I become too self critical - or can’t find that first line I need to begin.

Like a good friend advised me - **Start**, and **always be starting**.
