🔹 Introduction *My name is Jonas Makeke, a Blockchain, Web3 Content Creator and Web developer based in Goma, DRC. In this article, I’ll share my personal experience with stablecoins and why they’ve become essential tools in our daily lives here* 1. Local context In Goma, banks are not easily accessible, and the Congolese franc loses value regularly. International payments are complicated. 2. How I discovered stablecoins I discovered USDT and in 2022 through a Web3 community Goma Hub. Since then, I use them to receive payments. 3. A real-life story One day, a university student from Goma asked me how to receive money from his uncle abroad. He was tired of using traditional money transfer services too slow and too expensive. I helped him install a crypto wallet on his phone, and a few days later, he received $150 in USDT, directly into his wallet. He told me, This is the first time I’ve received money so quickly and without any fees. 4. Why it matters Stablecoins offer a real alternative here: stability, speed, and autonomy. 🔹 Conclusion What I share here comes from real experience. I write from Goma, in Africa, with the desire to show that Web3 is not just a trend it’s a solution. Stablecoins like USDT offer fast, borderless payments even in places where banks are hard to reach
