# How to create a MetaMask software wallet using the Brave web browser

After you’ve set up your hardware wallet, you’ll want to create a software wallet. We recommend using the Brave web browser. Step 1. Get the MetaMask software wallet Go to metamask.io (using the Brave web browser). Click on the “Download for Brave (lion icon)” button. Click on the “Add to Brave” button to install the MetaMask browser extension. Step 2. Configure MetaMask Click on the “Get Started” button. Click on the “Create a Wallet” button. Agree or disagree to send MetaMask usage data by clicking on the respective button. Create a password. Click to reveal your Secret Recovery Phrase. Store your Secret Recovery Phrase in a safe place. Never share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone. If you lose your Secret Recovery Phrase no one can help you gain access to your MetaMask wallet. Confirm your Secret Recovery Phrase. Select each phrase in the right order.
