Sismo是一个基于零知识证明（ZK）的声誉项目，即用户在链上不需要出示自己的身份，就能以匿名形式证明自己拥有某种资产、参与过某种活动等。 ZK是下一代区块链必备的基础功能，这让Sismo与银河、Layer3等现有的任务/声誉系统拉开了很大的距离，或者说，Sismo本就不是为了让用户完成各种任务而出现的，更重要的功能本身就是链上隐私声誉证明。
