# Getting funds on Optimism

I. Transfer funds from Ethereum Layer 1 to OΞ Layer 2 The Optimism Gateway allows you to transfer assets from Layer 1 Ethereum to Layer 2 OΞ. Deposits will be deposited into your wallet within 5 minutes. To make a deposit into Optimistic Ethereum: Step 1: Access to the Optimism Gateway. If this is your first visit, please carefully read the disclaimer message.Step 1Step 2: Select your wallet by clicking “Connect”. At this point, you should be connected to the Ethereum L1 Mainnet. If your wallet isn't working, it could be because it doesn't yet support Optimism (Read this article).Step 2Step 3: Choose the token you want to deposit. It should be noted that Optimism only supports a limited set of tokens at the moment and will add more in the future.Step 3Step 4: Enter the amount of tokens you want to transfer from Layer 1 to Layer 2.Step 4Step 5: Click the “Deposit” button.Step 5Step 6: Read the disclaimer and then click “Deposit” again.Step 6Step 7: In your wallet, confirm the transaction. Because this is a Layer 1 transaction, standard gas fees will apply. However, after this one-time payment, you will be able to enjoy lower gas prices on OΞ.Step 7Step 8: Within a few minutes, the network will confirm your transaction.Step 8That's all! Your funds should be available on OΞ within about five minutes of your transaction being confirmed on Layer 1.II. Get rewarded for saving with PoolTogether on Optimism. Making your first deposit into PoolTogether requires only three simple steps. Go to the Deposit tab in the PoolTogether App. Step 1: Enter the deposit amount and review it.Step 1Step 2: Approve USDC tokens on your wallet. To deposit into the Prize Pool, you must grant the PoolTogether protocol access to your USDC tokens. This is accomplished by sending an approval transaction to the PoolTogether Prize Pool contracts. Click on “Confirm approval” in the PoolTogether App and “confirm” the transaction in your wallet.Step 2Step 3: Deposit USDC. After the approval transaction is completed, the "Deposit Confirmation" screen will automatically load. Confirm the deposit transaction in your wallet by clicking “Confirm deposit”Step 3After submitting the transaction, you will be directed to the "Deposit submitted" screen.
