I took this image during a winter hike around Glen Lake near Fair Haven, Vermont. I had fallen behind my husband and friends because I was taking pictures, as usual. As they got further and further ahead of me, I was caught by the leading lines of their footprints in the snow, layered on top of the frozen lake. I paused to capture the moment, causing me to fall even further behind my hiking crew. The water is crystal clear and sparkles in the sun. The brick of the old fort contrasts beautifully with the blue/green tropical waters that surround it. To get to Fort Jefferson, you must first visit Key West in Florida, USA. Once there, you can book a 2-hour ferry ride to the National Park.
