One reason why the show is so enjoyable is how they use different genres to cover up what they are doing. They use a compelling mystery and horror to hide they are making a fantasy/D&D story. They’re using the supernatural elements to hide the a story about trauma and growing up. Hide isn’t the right word. It’s a mix of distract and enhance. I forget that there’s horror when the kids are having a relationship issue. The exploration of controlling one’s anger is enhanced when that anger can directly lead to psychically murdering people. I forget how stories are an incredible way to explore and idea. Circling back to privacy and security, how can a story explore the slow erasion of our privacy? Could you tell a compelling story with that as the backdrop? This was the idea that I wanted to get down tonight. It would be a fantastic way to merge my desire to explore privacy with storytelling. What kind of world starts to measure everything we do? Not too far crazy in the future, close enough to resemble now but definitely not near enough to think it’s not the future. Close enough to use that we understand that this could happen, and far enough to not quite understand how. This idea originates with a person always seeing you enter the park. It’s a future where everywhere you go, you are tracked. Something knows where you are. What you are doing. Is measuring you for some reason. You know why but not entirely. (I feel like I’m describing right now). What happens when this advances? How can I make it not feel like right now? Make it feel like a natural extension of right now? Good idea Lucas. Let’s move towards this! -Lucas ## Publication Information - [ldnovak](https://paragraph.com/@ldnovak/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@ldnovak/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@ldnovak): Subscribe to updates
