Leaves are plant organs that perform the function of photosynthesis, that is, the conversion of light energy into organic substances. The leaves are usually flat and attached to the stem through the petiole. The leaves can be of different sizes, shapes and colors, depending on the type of plant. They can be green, yellow, red or other colors, and can have different patterns and textures. The leaves also perform the function of respiration, allowing the plant to receive oxygen and release carbon dioxide. In addition, the leaves can be used as food for some animals and people, as well as as medicines.
