Polyhedra Network

Greetings friends!
==================

So, I decided to write an article of Polyhedra Network for you all. And here I am, it will be an extensive work, but I know it will be worth to read. Enjoy my article and I looking forward to your feedback!

The Beginning
=============

Initially, there was only the Bitcoin blockchain, which was designed to serve $BTC itself. Then came Ethereum, with their ability to program smart contracts, could be used for a variety of use cases. Then came other blockchains, each with their own use cases.

Today’s Problem

Polyhedra Network

However, this led to a major problem:

> "If you own ETH, how do you use it to buy assets on another blockchain?"

Put simply, these blockchains couldn't even interact or communicate between each other, which left assets locked on the siloed blockchains. This is where the Polyhedra Network comes into play.

Explanation About Polyhedra Network in Simple Way

Polyhedra Network

I reviewed various resources about Polyhedra Network, including their website, articles, whitepapers, twitter, and discord. While I might not fully understand all the technical aspects, I can explain what Polyhedra Network is and the problems it solves in a simple way.

Open your crypto wallet and see how many networks are in this wallet and how you transfer your assets between these blockchains. For those who haven't a single wallet and are still new to the blockchain space, just imagine you’re booking a flight from Singapore to Bali with your 2 friends (Alice and Bob). You all have three choices for your ticket: economy class, business class, and first class. Each class offers different levels of advantages and disandvantages.

The airplane represent the concept of interoperability, which connects different places that are otherwise unreachable naturally. In the crypto space, interoperability makes it possible to seamlessly transfer assets across blockchains. Each class represents features offered by an interoperability platform, whether it's about scalability, security, privacy and modularity.

Imagine Polyhedra Network as a first-class airplane with more advanced features compared to other interoperability platforms. Unlike other interoperability platforms that have ordinary features like economy class, and platforms that offer mediocre features like business class, Polyhedra Network has their own tech which called zkBridge that provides high-performance interoperability, this possible due to their complete set of Zero Knowledge Proof solution focused on interoperability, scalability, privacy and modularity.

If you don't know what ZK Proof is, it serves to authenticate data without revealing the data, making transactions private and secure.

The simplest way to understand what ZK Proof is:

When you transit first in Kuala Lumpur, Alice disappears. You know where Alice is, but Bob doesn't trust you. If you want to show where Alice is without revealing her location, take a large piece of paper to cover the entire map of Kuala Lumpur Airport, and show Bob the picture of Alice through a hole. You can prove that you know Alice's location, but Bob will not gain knowledge of where Alice is because the coordinates are still unknown to him.

In addition, developers can utilize Proof Cloud solutions by Polyhedra Network, which provides infrastructure to build and use ZK Proofs, making ZK Proof services accessible to all. This is possible because Polyhedra Network collaborates with Google Cloud to address the surging demand for ZK Proof services in both Web3 and Web2 sectors.

My Journey Story with Polyhedra Network

Now, let's move on to my experience with the Polyhedra ecosystem. This will be extensive, but I will try to structure everything I remember.

In 2023, precisely in Q1, I began my journey in crypto as an airdrop farmer. A friend suggested I learn more about crypto and blockchain through airdrops instead of trading due to the higher risk. As a 17 year old student at the time, I didn’t have money to invest in crypto. Long story short, I followed an airdrop channel that informed me about a potential airdrop from the Polyhedra Testnet. I knew all airdrops were speculative and not all of them give incentives to users, but I did airdrop farming to fill my free time as a student.

I participated in the Polyhedra Testnet, trying the zkBridge platform by creating NFTs, transferring them to another blockchain, and sending feedback to their Discord, hoping to be eligible for their future airdrop.

I don't remember much about my interactions with zkBridge, but I also participated in the zkBridge Loyalty Program. Sometimes, I followed events from Polyhedra and collected their points, though I missed some due to school activities. I participated in events like the Pandralia Campaign, using cross-chain messages in zkMessenger, participating in Lifeform x Polyhedra Avatar SBT, minting Polyhedra Star Legend, minting Polyhedra Dragon, and much more. I also transacted on zkBridge, hoping to maximize the airdrop from LayerZero as both are integrated.

Polyhedra Network

The day came when the eligibility checker was announced. I got 195 $ZK from Polyhedra Network. At that time, it was worth around $700+, and I was glad to make that amount while still in school. I still have a screenshot of my eligible $ZK amount in my gallery, and I was very happy at that time. Anyway, it was still free money for collecting Galxe Points and a little transaction with zkBridge. Thank you, Polyhedra!

I think that’s it for now, thanks for reading my article, keep your eyes on the officials social media of Polyhedra Network.
