# Web2 models on display; Web3 still up for grabs

started thinking about this in January after a turbulent EOY for 2021 in crypto: https://twitter.com/0xlght/status/1482242041610387457?s=20&t=y0VrVuqJ8eg7zgSEZVo-Swweb2.5coined by AV’s CMO back in 2021 - ‘web2.5’ that’s what we are currently wrking with. “metaverse coming” “p2e game coming” “miami bar coming”…. ‘everything’ (things naive ppl call blue chips) is currently a value prop of a future value prop. ‘they’ say it’s web3, but when u remove bagholder goggles what’s really web3 about it besides the payment method at this moment?? in fact, engagement farmers are already calling for ‘web4’ - they think we already have seen and failed at web3… how cute bullish for us, the players.signalpessimists, toxic positives, scarcity-minded, and just weak-spirited ppl in general litter many industries - ours is different because of how much ‘real-time influential’ narratives are spun and enforced as they mass together like dog shit in a water drain. this leads many creators/builders of amazing IP/protocols/initiatives to feel like they missed the boat or have no shot………………….fuck that. here’s my spin on it, as well as many of the ppl I respect in the space:we are earlier than we thought (pros or cons depending on your mindset)there is prolly ~80% dead weight in the space atm (pros or cons depending on u)the value props identified thus far are solid, it’s the timeframe that’s fuckedartist-founders who scale their 1/1 IP collectively are the sleeping giants of a real ‘web3’open source, win-win, and positive-sum framewrks will reign supreme if we make it
