I’m 17, Queer, Sick, and Losing My Future — Please Read My Story

Hi, I’m a 17-year-old lesbian intersex youth from East Asia.I’ve always dreamed of becoming someone who builds with art and technology.

But today, I’m on the edge of dropping out of school. I’m battling serious illness. I’m losing my future.

This isn’t a scam. I’m not asking for pity.I’m asking you to read my story, and maybe — if you can — to help me be seen.

Who I Am
--------

I was born and raised in a conservative part of China. I realized I was queer at a young age — and later found I was intersex.

My identity has never been accepted by my family or school. But I kept going.

I studied at a private high school, which cost over ¥50,000 RMB per year (~$7,000 USD). I earned scholarships and awards, trying to make my parents proud despite everything.

Eventually, the cost was too much, and I was forced to leave.

Why I'm in Crisis
-----------------

Now, I face being moved into a government-run technical school — a place where queer youth are often bullied, and where education is mostly about manual labor.

In China, vocational school students face deep discrimination.They’re often locked out of college pathways, and later job markets.

I don’t fit that system. I learn with my mind, not with my hands.But without tuition money, I’ll be forced into that path.

My Health
---------

I also live with several health conditions:

A rare spleen defect (polysplenia)

Chronic lung problems (including pneumothorax episodes)

Bipolar disorder and severe depression

I’m currently on medication. My mental and physical health both require stability and support. My body is tired. My mind is drowning.

And the money for treatment is almost gone.

My Dream
--------

I dream of building in Web3 — with code, with art, with stories.I’ve started my own small NFT project ideas. I’ve tried to learn smart contracts, community tools, and public goods theory.

But it’s hard to build when you’re barely surviving.

All I want is a future. To study. To think. To create. To live.
