A record number of NFTs were created in Bitcoin blocks in early April. The reason was the appearance of a new token standard - BRC-20.

This standard was suggested by anonymous developer Domo as an analogue of the ERC-20 standard, but with more limited functionality.

More than 170 BTC were paid to miners in commissions for conducting transactions that secured NFT data in the blockchain.
