Each morning breaks with an anxious moan

Do you think they need me?

I could just stay home

The alarm confirms it's time to move

The coffee drips, a bitter truth

The daily loop seems like a spell

Another day inside this shell

  

The traffic groans, a crawling line

A thousand thoughts pass through my mind

Emails pile like fallen leaves

Deadlines pass by in the breeze

The days are long and filled with stress

A blur of tasks, I'll do my best

  

But then—

a laugh

  

Not forced or planned, Not like a show

The emotions are real, this I know

My children's giggles from upstairs

My dogs that spin in dancing flares

My wife who texts I Love You

I text her back Love You Too

  

These moments crack the hardened gray

And suddenly, I feel today

Not as burden, not as fight

As a flicker, a flame, as a growing light

So yes, the weight is always there

But your spark will keep you from despair

Find your spark and hold it tight

Your reason to keep up the fight
