Kant described the sublime as awe in the face of nature’s most brutal forces—volcanic eruptions, raging tempests, waves crashing against cliffs (or a market crash while holding an open long position with 20x leverage). The body is gripped by terror. The animal discovers its own insignificance. Total annihilation. But the freedom to choose remains intact, and that moment gives birth to countless opportunities. Rejoice.

Attitudes act as filter. Humans are the only animals that can face brute force and transmute raw sensation into an object of contemplation, ecstasy, ritual, tech, song, paintings, dignity, vengeance... It is in this confrontation—when survival becomes impossible and gives way to something greater—that the essence of the sublime emerges from the bone marrow. The transcendence of mere flesh and blood. Grinning at the void. The eternal summer at the core of man that conjures the winning mojo when down 3–0 in the semi-finals.

Trading is a stress test, where fear and greed push people to extremes. Some break. Others go all the way and plunge into the deep end of the ocean. It’s the treasure chest in the cellar of a sunken ship that counts (see Zeno).
