# Staking on Moonwell

**Staking on Moonwell** provides the opportunity to earn rewards, engage in governance, and contribute to the protocol’s security by locking their **WELL** or **MFAM** tokens. In exchange, stakers receive stkWELL or stkMFAM tokens, which represent their staked assets and can be used for governance purposes.

In this guide, we will walk through the **process of staking on Moonwell**, covering how to navigate the platform and stake your tokens securely.

**What you need:**

*   A connected **wallet**.
    
*   **WELL** or **MFAM** tokens ready to stake.
    

**HOW TO STAKE**

**1)Access the staking interface:**

*   Navigate to the “_Stake_” option from the top navigation bar of the Moonwell platform.

**2)Select network:** once on the staking page, choose the network corresponding to the token you want to stake:

*   **WELL tokens**: available on Base, Optimism, and Moonbeam.
    
*   **MFAM tokens**: available on Moonriver.

**3)Enter amount:** in the staking modal, enter the amount of WELL or MFAM tokens you want to stake. You can stake any amount up to your wallet’s available balance.

**4)Approve and confirm**:

*   After entering the amount, click “_Approve Staking_” to authorize the transaction. Follow the prompts in your wallet to grant permission and finalize the staking process.

*   Once approved, confirm the transaction by clicking “_Confirm Stake_”.
    

**5)Completion**: after the transaction is confirmed. you will receive stkWELL o stkMFAM tokens in a 1:1 ratio to the amount staked.
