Our driving force-curiosity has led us to places and help us accomplish things that ancestors wouldn't even have thought of. As more and more rocketry is being popularised by private companies we humans have started to make our dream of interplanetary species a reality. The universe is as big as our dreams to conquer it. The nearest star to us next to our sun is Proxima Centauri which is around 4.25 light-years away and at our current speeds, we would be able to cover that distance in around 158100 years so that's out of the solution for making humanity intergalactic species.

But there's one concept that could be engineered and hopefully be put to use for faster than speed travel. Warp drive has been mainly a piece of science fiction but Miguel Alcubierre worked out the physics and maths for a real-life warp drive which is named Alcubierre drive. It’s largely still on paper but you never were the next big breakthrough comes from.

Largely the idea of warp drive comes from Star Trek.

From Einstein's general theory of relativity, we know that space-time works like a fabric that can be bent and is flexible. Positive mass bends space-time downwards. It has been theorized that there could be negative energy and negative mass which will bend space-time towards itself. The Aclubierre drive uses exotic matter to shift space around the spaceship and makes the space travel faster than light. It forms a warp bubble and can move this region of space. It doesn't violate any law as physics states that matter cannot travel faster than light but in the case of Aclubierre drive the space is moving faster than the speed of light which is under the laws of physics and the spaceship is at rest relative to the space it’s on. There has been no exotic matter found, only theorized so there needs to be a lot of work done but it will be worth it. There are other ways to cover astronomical distance like wormholes and stuff like that but I think we can’t probably engineer wormholes(in near future but who knows about the distant) on the other hand advancements in astronomy can found ways of manipulating (I know that we don’t know enough about the dark matter)dark matter.

I found this image which probably gives and describes all the general relativity and field equations needed to describe the warp drive

But the most important of them is

Nanoscopic warp bubbles have been formed by Dr. Harold Sonny White and his team. This proves that further advancements could be successful in the development of warp drive . Here is a link to Dr white’s findings -

This blog post took me quite a lot of time as this topic was relatively new to me research was needed to be done on it. I am still not satisfied with what I have written So I might modify it in the future as I get more understanding of its maths.

PS. Thank you dear reader for spending time with my thoughts. if you want to show a gesture of appreciation you can buy me a book so I could read more books and write about topics I learn from them in the future -

I might be wrong in a number of places in this blog post as I have not even completed high school but I did my best and you can point them out so i could correct them, email me - madhavgoyal007@pm.me.
