Acceptance.

Despite all the hardship.

The fresh air helped.

Even with the uncertain future,

Which Alfred tried not to think about.

But even if he wanted to forget,

Did the signs permit it?

The glances?

The changes?

Ring, ring.

The phone didn't ring for long.

"Yes?"

"Hello, sir. Calling from the hospital..."

Beep, beep.

The phone disconnected.
