# Pivot, pivot

Being in any kind of position in any workplace can be a challenge, and with each day the stakes get higher. One might think that leadership positions are something that only a few in the company are able to enjoy, but the truth is that leadership roles are at all levels of any organization. It’s only true that the more we are open to develop our leadership skills, the better relationships and communication we will be able to create in our future organisations. Having had the opportunity of leading a small company for 2.5 years, it sure does help to open up your eyes. For me, being in the position of leading others, shaping a company and doing everything in your power to hold it together not only helped me to know a little bit more of the industry, but equally important I have grown so much within my own skin. It’s no easy job to set aside your own ego, in order to see beyond your needs and figure out what the organization needs from you, or at least in my case, it helped me to come out more of my shell, from needing to communicate my ideas more clearly, improving my negotiation skills and much more. It also inspired me to start my master focused on Business Management, where I have been able to develop my skills even further. Having the opportunity to meet people from around the world, through my classmates and different events like networkings, conferences and my recent Global Network Week in Seoul, South Korea, I have been able to meet and interact with people from different backgrounds, and learn through their experiences. Being in an environment where I am constantly challenged to go out of my comfort zone and embody different roles within an organization where I have to push myself and be more open to change, working alongside my team-mates and learning from them has been a great experience overall. From learning new trends like the creation of digital business models, doing different kinds of marketing simulations, taking the COO position in a startup for our technology based models class has been some of the activities we have had in these last 6 months Learning more of a world very different from my own, like economy, finance and leadership, I have been able to better understand the world and how everything is intertwined. In the next 6 months I’m going to be finishing my master degree, and I’m gonna be a long way from where I started back in September. I don’t know where the future will lead me, and the opportunities that might come my way, but in the meantime I will welcome all things that come my way.
