Subject: 0x00CAFCFEFF Object Class: LuminousDescriptionQuadruped, feline creature; colloquial species designation of "MoonCat". Fuzzy, pale blue in color, with mottled spots throughout its coat. In addition to baseline PPE requirements required in the Deep Space Lab area, it is highly recommended for new staff to utilize eye protection when interacting with 0x00CAFCFEFF for the first time. Goggles that are rated ANSI Z87.1 U4 or greater are the current recommendation (prior versions of this recommendation suggested U2 rating or greater, which was found to be insufficient¹ when 0x00CAFCFEFF entered states of hyperactivity). Subject 0x00CAFCFEFF emits an ambient atmospheric illumination that has been found to be common among members of the MoonCat species (a.k.a. their "glow"). Subject 0x00CAFCFEFF has been instrumental in gaining knowledge about this species' ability to illuminate the atmosphere around them due to the intensity, ██████, and ██████ of subject 0x00CAFCFEFF's illumination. Chromatic analysis of the 0x00CAFCFEFF's illumination ability places it at an intensity of 761. Casual observation may mistake the color of the illumination as "white", but with detailed calibration², the illumination has been measured as a "very, very, very pale blue".Lab NotesThis initial Lab Entry for subject 0x00CAFCFEFF will hopefully guide future research in a more structured manner for understanding MoonCat glow effects. I am pleased to be part of the research team able to demonstrate the illumination effect is indeed created by the MoonCat species and is to some degree controllable by them rather than a random effect. More research is definitely suggested for analyzing this atmospheric ability, particularly the effect of ███████ both in proximity and ingested. But at this point we are comfortable in assuring the humans residents and visitors to ChainStation Alpha that the intensity with which subject 0x00CAFCFEFF can radiate is the most-intense of the MoonCats they will encounter on ChainStation Alpha³. As safety measures now cover that level of intensity, all other MoonCats onboard the station are covered too. I hope the creation of this Lab Entry will assure others of the commitment of the Deep Space Lab to continue to analyze these effects and ensure the safety of all feline and humanoid partners. This is the "Initialization" entry for this Lab Entry, which is the first phase in the Deep Space Lab SOP for designating something worthy of study, and this Entry will serve as a focal point for additional researchers to contribute their findings and collaborate on this Subject. I am excited to be on the forefront of continuing to study the MoonCats, their abilities, and the unique nature of the bonds they have formed with humans. Indeed the presence of subject 0x004E3952FA in the lab during research has boosted my productivity, and morale of the entire research staff. You'll be happy to know that the periods of hyperactivity shown by 0x00CAFCFEFF have reduced in frequency significantly, especially as they appear to be forming a bonded pair with subject 0x005F080402.
