# Taiko Deploys Katla Alpha 6 Testnet

Taiko, an EVM-equivalent ZK-Rollup, [deployed](https://twitter.com/taikoxyz/status/1746910863536328875) its sixth Alpha public testnet coined Katla. The testnet introduces support for a configurable multi-proof rollup design called the Based Contestable Rollup (BCR). Katla uses the Holesky testnet as its root chain and features EIP-4844 support, which will be enabled at a later date. Developers can use the testnet to deploy smart contracts for their dapp using existing Ethereum tooling. Developers can also run a L2 proposer or prover. Users can use the testnet to make transfers, bridge tokens, and now bridge NFTs. Taiko is building a Type 1 ZK-EVM, which prioritizes full EVM-equivalence over ZK-proof generation speed.
