Launched on August 10th, 2017, the MoonCatRescue Insanely Cute Operation was a success! The 25440 MoonCats are acclimating to their life as [fully on-chain](https://mooncat.community/about) collectible critters.

MoonCat #283 accessorized on chain

Every MoonCat was generated with a proof-of-work strategy similar to how Bitcoin is mined.
===========================================================================================

Out of the billions of combinations that could have been generated, the 25,440 MoonCats  that were rescued were individually selected by their minters.

These are the first non-fungible tokens minted with a fully decentralized process, through an algorithmically randomized  event, that required significant interaction for each mint. **MoonCat Rescue is a curated collection of generative artwork that is entirely stored on Ethereum.** Verified as a preeminent digital collectible asset developed using blockchain technology.

For each MoonCat, the minter pointed their computer's processor to mine a string of code. The traits of a specific MoonCat were randomly generated by this event. The output was a set of hexadecimal units that created a MoonCat's seed value.

Each mooncat is unique

The visual representation of the seed value was rendered, and the string of code could be put in to the smart contract function to mint that specific MoonCat. Or they could execute the mining task again to create a new seed value.
