# The Games We Play **Published by:** [mrh0use.eth](https://paragraph.com/@mrh0use/) **Published on:** 2023-02-10 **URL:** https://paragraph.com/@mrh0use/the-games-we-play ## Content In the realm of NFT Twitter, or “Web3 Twitter” as often referred to, discourse, we often speak of how fast the space moves--high volatility swings leaning on momentum trading, dopamine hits, and the mentalities “wen” and “WAGMI.” For far too many who voyage into Web 3 and find themselves immersed in collecting or trading non-fungible tokens have landed in a situation similar to this: Often too late or after a grievous mistake, anons have their “eureka” moment: wallet breach / assets lost or drained from malicious connection Discord / Twitter hacked fumbled the bag on a “degen” play failed to assess / improperly addressed risk tolerance got rug-pulled etc. Following this circumstance, anon may travel one of two routes (for example purposes, this is by no means an instance of absolutes): Acknowledge the mistakes made, learn a lesson from failure, and move forward with a different, more vigilant approach. Emotions loom, the loss stings, the assets are difficult to recover, etc... It may become easier to leave the space and move on. Perception & Framing How Anon’s journey will continue will depend on how they consciously or subconsciously perceive the given situation and frame it within their mind. What is often perceived by many within the Web3 space as Web3 Twitter, in reality is semi siloed sects of “ETH NFT Twitter,” “BTC Twitter,” “AI/ML Twitter,” and the list goes on. We get caught up in echo chambers on our self-righteous path to the moon, regardless of who or what falls to ruin, until our communal “bags” are in jeopardy from a blockchain exploit or CEX collapse. Perhaps, rather than seeking our objectives in the space to be understood, we should seek to understand all that encompasses Web3. How to seamlessly integrate the best pieces of innovative technological capabilities, like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, to advance the current limitations of our beloved Web3 technologies: blockchain, dApps, Smart Contracts, etc., and assist in driving forward progress on the technology we claim to love so much. This is a topic I have reflected on heavily recently: the value of time and how and where to spend it. On The Lex Fridman Podcast: #333 -- Andrej Karpathy, the pair, renowned as experts in their respective fields of work, briefly find themselves sidetracked on a tangent of how interstellar travel among alien species would theoretically work given the limits of physics as humans have defined them. Afterward, they return to a more “academic” topic. Checks and Balances While a decentralized society living in harmony is a great dream, it is unrealistic that this gets achieved, and there is poetic justice to the entertainment value of drama we consume via social media. Balance, however, can be sought after and applied. Allocating an equitable time to furthering the greater good and tweeting “Who’s Active RN?!” surely cannot be too tall a task? Take Jack Butcher, Visualize Value, and Checks - VV Editions as an example: Jack took his business of teaching people how to understand and productize their expertise as a commodity and wrapped it into a conceptual piece of art on a non-fungible token which, “may or may not be notable.” Numerous conversations took place around the art: its purpose, what it meant for NFTs, what Jack’s plans for Checks were, speculation on the burn, and of course, Checks’ price action. It drove me to visualizevalue.com where I traded my time and money for some of Jack’s expertise on how to Visualize Value. Just as Fridman and Karpathy can have a conversation that encompasses both shared knowledge and humor scoping from AI to aliens and leave better for the experience, and Jack Butcher can start a movement through an open edition, shouldn’t we yearn to understand the value of our time and optimize it accordingly? ## Publication Information - [mrh0use.eth](https://paragraph.com/@mrh0use/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@mrh0use/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@mrh0use): Subscribe to updates
