It sparked an idea: a new compression algorithm. Storing color is expensive. Each pixel's color needs 3 infos (e.g., 40% red, 20% blue, 10% green). In contrast, black and white are much more efficient and only need 1 info (e.g., 50% black for one pixel, 20% for another). So, what if we used illusions to compress images? No ? Ok Ok, you can argue that you won't be able to sell 22 1/1s in one drop, let's say you can't sell more than the corresponding edition number: Potential Revenue $260 $1,700 $10,000 $10,000 This is already making 1/10's more interesting ! Now let's assume whoever would buy a 1/10 for $1,000 would also buy below that (without capping): Buyers 26+17+12+22 17+12+22 12+22 22 Potential Revenue $770 $5,100 $22,012 $220,000 and with capping: Buyers 26+17+12+22 17+12+22 12+22 (capped at 10) 22 (capped at 1) Potential Revenue $770 $5,100 $10,000 $10,000 You can see how close it's getting ! Probably, what's your conclusion ? For me, I'm not sure yet, it does seem like the $100 price point holds up, but it does not show up in numbers like I expected.
