The National Health Commission reported on May 2 that from 0:00 to 24:00 on May 1, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government) and Xinjiang production and Construction Corps reported 846 newly diagnosed cases of COVID-19 (727 in Shanghai, 36 in Beijing, 31 in Jilin, 23 in Guangdong, 8 in Heilongjiang, 6 in Sichuan, 5 in Shandong, 2 in Zhejiang, 2 in Jiangxi, 2 in Xinjiang, 1 in Inner Mongolia, 1 in Liaoning, 1 in Fujian and 1 in Henan), Including 566 cases from asymptomatic infection to confirmed cases (529 cases in Shanghai, 27 cases in Jilin, 7 cases in Guangdong, 2 cases in Beijing and 1 case in Sichuan). There were 32 new deaths, all local cases, all in Shanghai; No new suspected cases. 4647 local cases were cured and discharged on the same day. 32454 close contacts were released from medical observation, and 129 severe cases increased compared with the previous day.
