# Sleeping Beauty By [Nicolas for Farm](https://paragraph.com/@nicolas-for-farm) · 2023-07-18 --- When the orange sun is going to say good bye, many animals are also ready to put down the duty of the day and call a day. Birds fly back to the warm and safe nest, some fly in the loneliness of solitary, some fly in happiness with couple, some fly in liveliness with friends. For some big animals who have no permanent home, as they will sleep wherever it is when it is dark. And it seems they need some moment to select the place and to make it ready to lay down even if they will rest the body there for one night. Because it is not only safety area but also comfortable bed that important for the night. After foraging all day from dawn till dusk, everybody would love to rest the body and the soul. The same as in the troop of Assamese macaque; the Mountain monkey. The feeding hour is coming to the end when the sun light is disappearing from the forest. The funny time of joyful in playing as well. For the bedroom of Assamese macaque, is alike many of animal that they have some kind of permanent place to sleep in the night, even it does not look like the nest of Birds or Squirrels. This monkey will go to sleep on the tree that they have ever slept before. And within their home range there are 20 sleep sites more or less. Most of the tree they sleep is Fig tree and nearby a creek. And you know what! All the 60 members will go up to bed in the same one tree. In a day when the troop approaches the sleep site, they will not go up into the tree instantly. But they will slowly try to find something to eat around there or climb up a tree close by to get a couple to do grooming- the body cleaning that is one of most valuable social activity. But some of them also take some nap alone waiting for something. Until there is one individual, mostly a big adult male or an old one who begin to climb up into the sleep tree to show and confirm that the day will stop here and it is safe to sleep up there. And then the small juvenile will start climbing up to join, to give some appreciation to the big brother. Not for long, the rest will slightly follow and select the place to the night significantly. They will not get to sleep yet that early but they will make a couple to clean the body after walking around the forest for a whole day. Mostly the couple is in family, I mean mother and kids or sister and sister, but the male- the father will have a small male to be partner. There will be some small conflict about fighting for a couple or the place to sleep, which is a normal thing for them. Or sometimes the boss –Alpha male just wants to show his power. Some screaming slowly blow away, just a small angry voice from the tiny infant who is sleepy or the nipple disconnection with its mouth. Then everything is falling down into the silence. As the same time that the warm golden sun ray fades away. On the other hand the coldness of the night is slowly waking p and moving to cover all the green leaves in the jungle. Then the song from the crickets and grasshoppers begin to flood around. For a while, all the monkeys in the tree is fall asleep. Ah…when the monkeys sleep in the night they will sit on branch, not laying down on the back as in the day. And in the winter and rainy season they will sit in a group as a big ball with some small one inside the warm hugging. In summer time they will sit sleeping in a couple or just a small group. In one morning of winter time, the coldness still covered around the leafless crowd so the monkeys moved down to stay closer together to share the warmness in the middle of the sleeping tree after sitting in the freezing but safe zone on the top the whole night. When the warm sun comes back to life, it show us the sleeping beauty of Assamese macaque.
