Hello fellow Clickstars!

This week's Clicks travel across four countries and five very different moods: a pair of sand lizards sunning themselves on a stone in the German village of Hambrücken, a hand-prepared fish laid out beside a mate thermos in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina, a vintage Ferris wheel spinning over Margate's storied Dreamland in England, a DJ booth view of Outside Lands' forest-lit crowd in San Francisco, and a hip-hop mural glowing on a Seattle alley wall during Capitol Hill Block Party. Each of these moments happened, was felt, and is now certifiably real - signed and stored inside the Digital Trust Network exactly as it looked in the split second the shutter dropped.20260813.jpg+4

Settle in and let these five Clicks carry the week from a sunlit stone in the Upper Rhine plain, where two lizards teach a quiet lesson in patience, to a Córdoban worktable where salt, herbs and paprika turn preservation into ritual, on to a Kent seafront where a century-old amusement park keeps reinventing itself, then into a eucalyptus grove where a festival crowd faces down a DJ booth bathed in red light, and finally to a Pacific Northwest wall where spray paint and sampler pads pay tribute to a culture that lives on the street as much as on stage.

Throughout the week, the team handpicks Clicks to promote the different feeds and Clickstars on social media, like [X](https://x.com/clickdeepreals) and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/clickdeepreals/). They get a tip from Nodle for their contributions to the network, Click archive and creativity - if you want to get highlighted by the official accounts, keep on Clicking, yours might be next!

Our week opens on a warm stone in Hambrücken, on the Upper Rhine plain of Baden-Württemberg, where our Monday Clickstar caught two sand lizards (Lacerta agilis) mid-bask. The vivid green scales on one animal and the browner tones on the other match the typical summer look of a male and female, though a firm identification would need a closer anatomical look than this Click provides. What the image does capture perfectly is the lizard's basic survival strategy: stretched flat on sun-warmed rock, soaking up heat before slipping back into cover the moment a shadow crosses.

Sand lizards are specially protected in Germany and depend on a mosaic of sunlit ground, loose stones, sandy soil, low vegetation and hiding spots. They use exposed surfaces like the one in this Click to raise their body temperature, then retreat into grass or burrows the instant they need shelter. A local Hambrücken ecological survey recorded sand lizards at almost all suitable areas of its extended study site back in 2019, which turns this small encounter into part of a documented local wildlife story rather than a lucky one-off.

The sighting also reflects a wider Baden-Württemberg conservation challenge. Sand lizards remain widespread across much of the state but are still listed as a species of concern, as habitat loss from development, intensive farming, road fragmentation and the disappearance of open, sunny ground can isolate populations over time. Conservation work therefore focuses on protecting exactly the features visible in this Click: basking stones, bare sandy patches, grassland edges, shelter and safe wintering spaces.

Hambrücken's late-summer calendar adds a very human counterpart to that quiet reptilian routine. The village has scheduled its Lußhardtlauf community run for 16 August 2026, followed later by the 40th anniversary street festival of its local associations in September - recurring events that bring people outdoors into the same landscapes where reptiles, insects and wild plants keep to their own, far older schedule.

The week continues in Villa Carlos Paz, Córdoba, where our Tuesday Clickstar found a butterflied, salted fish laid open beside bay leaves and a packet of pimentón, ready for its next step. The exact species and final recipe cannot be confirmed from the Click alone, but the visible salt, herbs and paprika point to a hands-on preservation or seasoning stage before the fish makes it to the table, the kind of unhurried kitchen prep that rarely gets photographed because it happens between the cooking, not during it.

The Islas Malvinas thermos sitting in the background adds a distinctly Argentine layer to the scene. In everyday Argentine life, thermoses are inseparable from mate culture, and Malvinas imagery frequently appears on cups, flasks and travel gear as a quiet expression of national memory. Here it sits beside a much more intimate ritual: preparing food outdoors, slowly and practically, with every ingredient close at hand and nothing wasted.

The timing also lands just after Pachamama Day, observed on 1 August. In 2026, Villa Carlos Paz marked the occasion at Parque Estancia La Quinta with a free community ceremony organised with Fundación Pangea, giving thanks to Mother Earth for food, nature and everything it provides. This Click's salt, fish, herbs and open-air worktable feel like a small domestic echo of that wider custom, a private version of the same respect for what feeds people.

Early August is winter in Córdoba, but Villa Carlos Paz keeps its community calendar surprisingly full. The city's winter season brought theatre, humour and food-focused programming, while the Carlos Paz Trail Running event filled Parque Temático on 1 and 2 August. Just before this Click was taken, the city also hosted the Fiesta Nacional de los Abuelos from 31 July to 3 August, a gathering built around music, dancing and intergenerational celebration. Against that backdrop, this Click pulls the focus back from public events to something older and smaller: food prepared by hand, ready to be shared.

Midweek, our Wednesday Clickstar carries the journey to Dreamland Margate, the vintage amusement park beside the town's seafront, catching the Ferris wheel turning above colourful pennants, food stalls and a lawn full of curious gulls. The scene shows the park in its present form: part funfair, part live-events venue, part living piece of British seaside history. Dreamland is free to enter and, through summer 2026, runs daily from 18 July to 31 August with rides, arcades, roller disco, street food and music.

The site's entertainment history reaches back to the railway-boom era of the late 1860s and the old Hall by the Sea. In 1919, entrepreneur John Henry Iles bought the site and, inspired by New York's Coney Island, rebuilt it as an American-style pleasure garden christened Dreamland.

Its defining legend was the wooden Scenic Railway, which opened in 1920 and carried 500,000 riders in its first three months alone. A mile of wooden track was visible across Margate, and local lore holds that screams from its first drop could be heard from the High Street at the height of the season. The ride survived major fires in 1949 and 1957, a long closure, a 2008 arson attack and a major restoration before Dreamland retired it permanently in January 2026, following a 2024 derailment-related closure.

That retirement makes this Click's cheerful Ferris wheel and fluttering flags feel especially poignant, part of a park still moving forward after its most famous ride stopped turning for good. Dreamland has since announced a pop-up exhibition for later in 2026 to preserve the Scenic Railway's story in a new format.

The summer around this Click was packed with the kind of events that keep Margate's fairground traditions alive. The Kooks played Dreamland on 1 August, while Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Bastille and Fatboy Slim were scheduled later in the month. Two days after this Click, on 8 August 2026, Margate Pride marked its tenth anniversary with a seafront march and a free all-ages Dreamland takeover of the Scenic Stage, complete with DJs, live music, drag, cabaret, community stalls and Youth Pride.

By Thursday, our Clickstar stands behind the decks at Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, capturing the crowd on the evening of Saturday, 8 August 2026, framed by the festival's distinctive triangular black stage structures and the towering eucalyptus lining the park's western side. Outside Lands returned to Golden Gate Park from 7 to 9 August 2026 for three days of music, food, art and nightlife, marking the festival's 18th year of turning one of San Francisco's great public landscapes into a temporary city of stages, food stalls and forest-lit dance floors.

The scene in this Click aligns with SOMA, Outside Lands' dedicated house-and-techno space. On Saturday, the programme moved from Bad Juuju and 1-800 Girls through Camoufly and Sultan + Shepard, before Ben Böhmer and Lane 8 closed the stage that evening. The forest setting is part of SOMA's appeal, with the festival's electronic strand operating like an open-air club where bass, smoke, red lighting and trees stand in for conventional walls and ceilings.

Saturday was also one of the festival's busiest and most musically overloaded days. The Strokes headlined Lands End from 8:35 to 9:55 p.m., while The xx played Twin Peaks from 8:10 to 9:25 p.m., and Lane 8 closed SOMA from 8:25 to 9:55 p.m., creating the classic Outside Lands dilemma of picking one final set while knowing something equally tempting was happening a short walk away. Earlier that day, San Francisco producer Tycho opened the surprise-performer series with an extended DJ set at McLaren Pass, tying the festival back to the city's own electronic-music community.

There is a local-history echo in the setting too. Golden Gate Park was designed in the 1870s out of dunes and wind-blown sand, then planted and engineered into the dense, green urban landscape it is today. Outside Lands' lights under eucalyptus and Monterey pine represent a distinctly San Franciscan kind of reinvention: a hand-built landscape becoming a temporary home for tens of thousands of people sharing a beat.

The week closes in Seattle, where our Friday Clickstar found a mural covering a downtown alley wall, blending the visual language of hip-hop, a boombox, sampler pads, turntable shapes, piano keys, headphones, a spray can and a dancer mid-move, with a green city skyline rising behind it. The result feels like a compact declaration that Seattle's music culture belongs as much to alleys and service passages as to official venues.

The timing lands on the final day of the 28th Capitol Hill Block Party, which ran from 7 to 9 August and transformed the Pike/Pine corridor into a festival of outdoor stages, clubs, restaurants and packed sidewalks. More than 100 performances were scheduled across the weekend, with artists including MUNA, Disco Lines, Wet Leg, Parcels, Magdalena Bay, Tinashe, Zack Fox and Seattle hip-hop performer J-Henry.

That connection makes this Click feel especially of its moment: a mural full of rhythm, records and aerosol colour appearing while the neighbourhood itself operated as a live, multi-stage sound system. Even visitors outside the ticketed streets could join the wider atmosphere; on 9 August, the Capitol Hill Block Party team hosted Vinyl & Vibes in Chophouse Row, an all-ages courtyard session with DJ CK1 and Glitterous playing all-vinyl sets.

Seattle has a long relationship with public art in overlooked spaces. Nearby in Belltown, a service alley between Lenora and Blanchard was turned into a permanent mural installation, featuring work by Seattle artists and international contributors, proof that in this city a side street can become a cultural venue in its own right. Local nonprofit 206 Zulu carries that spirit forward by preserving and supporting Seattle's hip-hop arts and culture, and its August 2026 calendar included the 16th annual Off The Wall mural-reveal party and the 15th annual Beat Masters Beat Battle. With that, this week's journey ends the way it started, on a wall where nature and culture leave their mark for anyone paying attention.

Final words
-----------

This week's edition comes together around scenes that reward a second look. A sand lizard on a Hambrücken stone teaches patience in miniature, a Córdoban worktable turns fish and paprika into quiet ritual, Margate's Dreamland keeps its seaside magic alive after retiring its most legendary ride, a San Francisco eucalyptus grove becomes a temporary nightclub for a festival weekend, and a Seattle alley wall pays loud, colourful tribute to a culture built on rhythm and reinvention. Each Click stays faithful to that mix of immediacy and depth: the scene is real, the feeling is local, and the story gets richer the longer you look.
