**Modern Talking** was a German [pop music](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_music) duo consisting of arranger, songwriter and producer [Dieter Bohlen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dieter_Bohlen)[\[5\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Talking#cite_note-dw-5) and singer [Thomas Anders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Anders). They have been referred to as Germany's most successful pop duo,[\[6\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Talking#cite_note-6) and have had a number of hit singles, reaching the top five in many countries. Their most popular singles are "[You're My Heart, You're My Soul](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You%27re_My_Heart,_You%27re_My_Soul)", "[You Can Win If You Want](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Can_Win_If_You_Want)", "[Cheri, Cheri Lady](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheri,_Cheri_Lady)", "[Brother Louie](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brother_Louie_\(Modern_Talking_song\))", "[Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantis_Is_Calling_\(S.O.S._for_Love\))" and "[Geronimo's Cadillac](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geronimo%27s_Cadillac_\(Modern_Talking_song\))".

Modern Talking worked together from 1983 to 1987, then the band disbanded. In 1998, they reunited and made a successful comeback, recording and releasing music from 1998 to 2003. The duo released singles (many of which involved American rapper [Eric Singleton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Singleton)) which again entered the top ten in Germany and abroad, one of which was the re-recorded version of "You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98". After the duo's second and final break-up in 2003, their global sales had reached 120 million singles and albums combined.[\[7\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modern_Talking#cite_note-SZ-7)
