# 12 Years in Crypto

I lost the password to my first Ethereum wallet and it has outperformed me by over $5 Million dollars...

> All I had to do was nothing.

This is my fourth cycle (if they still exist) and I still haven’t made a million dollars in crypto.

*   In my first cycle back in 2013 I made a few hundred dollars trading Bitcoin and alts...
    
*   I sold almost everything just before the second cycle kicked off and only ended up making a few thousand in the 2017 ICO era...
    
*   In my third, I went risk-on and I finally made it to the six figure club, before giving most of it back to NFTs and the tax man.
    

In the upcoming bull, I am publicly setting a target of reaching seven figures of profit and managing risk more effectively this time.

I don’t know how yet, and I know I will need _a lot_ of luck on my side. I’m not the smartest in the room, I’m not the most well networked, and I definitely don’t have the most capital, but I am going to give it my all.

I have belief in this industry despite its best efforts at times to dissuade.

*   I believe peer to peer digital cash does have a future.
    
*   I believe smart contracts can enable new economic models.
    
*   I believe the democratisation of finance can empower millions.
    
*   I believe the onchain economy offers new models for commerce and ownership in the digital age.
    
*   I believe cryptography empowers the individual.
    
*   I believe permissionless innovation is a positive for society.
    
*   I believe decentralisation is our best protection against absolute power corrupting.
    

And most importantly I am determined to make a positive impact while contributing to the ecosystem. If I’m going to make a million dollars, I want to make sure I’m delivering more value back.

This isn’t my “last cycle to make it” as I’ve heard a few people say recently. I know I’m here for life, for better or worse. So if I’m going to spend my time here, I want to help build the change I want to see in the world.

**The future is onchain. The future is decentralised. Let’s make it a future that benefits us all.**
