Dew remains on the grass. The clash of temperatures creates a foggy haze In the air within grasp. The base of the skin Connects with the ground beneath. It is damp and moist Goosebumps on the body are now seen.Liquid and air A silent scene now surrounds. No person yet the Are present; around.Through the eyes, The focus situates on two things. The flesh's connection with the ground and the water where soon it will be.The brain then ponders The temperatures. Their opposites. The physical then hesitates Surely that will cause the body a rift.Moist and chilly. Cold, cold, cold. Lukewarm, Icy Freeze. To move or to remain The system hesitates; afraid. In one moment, yes. Jump in. Go.The next, hold back. Do not dare endure that blow.Like two dogs with a toy rope Playing tug-of-war One moment here The next, there no more. This experience resonates As I ponder pieces of life Where decisions would loom Where hesitations thrive. To act on impulse To trust the first glance; feeling. Or to listen to that nudge From the thought-provoking side of the.To move freely forward To take grasp. To dive in.Or to grip those toes tight To remain in the place that you are. To hesitate in allowing That jump into the water to play a part.Is there space for both? A valid reason for both scenes; options? In the depths of my mind, I ponder these things. With creativity With potential life risks With desires and dreams With the 'shoulds' that surround us as we exist.Maybe I remain on that ledge Toes clung to the seam To prepare my body and system For the temperate shift that the water will bring. As I stand there, with time I grow accustomed to the air I am seasoned and ready For the cold water, I am prepared. Then those days that I do not That I choose to instead dive on in I adapt very quickly As my body, amongst the cold, continues to live.A right or a wrong Perhaps one answer does not exist. An active contemplation To pause and thoughtfully ponder, Or to dive in and take a risk. ## Publication Information - [On The Inside](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@ontheinside): Subscribe to updates ## Optional - [Collect as NFT](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/an-active-contemplation): Support the author by collecting this post - [View Collectors](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/an-active-contemplation/collectors): See who has collected this post
