# The Mist. > Inhale; moisture. Dense; thick. The environment is blurry. Not clear. Not easy to depict.Once up in the sky Today they are low The clouds are upon me As I walk. As I go.Have you ever experienced a moment A situation in time Where in one place it is rainy And nearby it is dry?Perhaps you were in your car Continuing on your way For some time it was chaotic The wipers working away. Then moments later In an instant in time The weather was calm No raindrops to find.As if there were a divider in the sky Start here, end there A perfect line on the sidewalk Showing the contrast; the divide. It is interesting to me When I encounter those changes In the weather's degree How it seems odd that here it could be pouring Yet a few minutes away There is not a drop on the street.I ponder how that can mimic life The journey of our days How we go through chapters and experiences That flow together As we continue on our way.How some portions feel heavy Some feel encompassed with bliss Some feel overwhelming Some feel important As we learn As we live. The weather is external We can see it or feel We can describe the situation Understand how to navigate So that safety and security Are experienced and real. When the fog is heavy We turn on our fog lights We have an awareness of the decreased visibility in our sight. When it is hot outside We find a fan Or have a drink with some ice.If it is cold or snowy The heaters are switched on We grab a blanket and a coat Try to warm our bodies as we move along. When I think about those chapters Those experiences of life That flow together, Though they contrast, Sometimes understanding is difficult to find. How could a season of sadness Be followed with joy or light? How would an experience of chaos Ever be partnered with feelings of delight? Is it easy to understand To describe and depict The season or experience we are in As we navigate what it entails Or how, through it, we continue to live?An instruction manual For how to navigate For what to say For how to feel Is unavailable along the way No matter how much we wish it were there.Like the weather we can see Its nature we can feel; Sometimes there is light Sometimes there is bliss Sometimes it is dreary Sometimes we are stuck in the mist.A drop on the nose Dew forms on the cheek Can we hold to the knowing that this is temporary That, one day, newfound light will exist? ## Publication Information - [On The Inside](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/): Publication homepage - [All Posts](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/): More posts from this publication - [RSS Feed](https://api.paragraph.com/blogs/rss/@ontheinside): Subscribe to updates ## Optional - [Collect as NFT](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/the-mist): Support the author by collecting this post - [View Collectors](https://paragraph.com/@ontheinside/the-mist/collectors): See who has collected this post
