Bitcoin nodes are responsible for verifying and transmitting transactions on the Bitcoin network. As the Bitcoin network grows, more nodes are needed to maintain a reliable and secure system. However, as DLT technology evolves, it is possible that new ways of verifying and transmitting transactions will be developed that do not require a centralized node. If this happens, it is likely that fewer or no Bitcoin nodes will be needed in the future. This could have serious consequences for the security of the Bitcoin network and could lead to its demise.
